Our math program is based on the Holt Mathematics Program for Kindergarten. Our year begins with shapes, colors, and numbers 1-10. We move on to measurement, graphing, time, money, sequencing, numbers to 100, and by June we are working on addition and subtraction skills. Our small group size (1:5 ratio) allows for very individualized instruction. Individuals and groups are able to work at their own pace throughout the year.
Our math program uses hands on activities to reinforce our skills. We integrate literature and art in our math activities, and we also try to incorporate math skills into other areas of our curriculum. We play many games in our math group, and the main goal of the program is to allow the children to have fun while learning.
