We started our unit by talking about
all the oceans....for snack, we made an edible ocean..

We acted out this song using felt
pieces Miss Shaynee bought at the Kindergarten conference....
we did it over and over!!
For language arts one day,
we had class outside. We practiced reading short words by fishing
for plastic fish that Miss Shaynee had written words on.....
to keep the fish we caught, we had to sound out the words...
fun, fun, fun
This is our favorite pocket
chart poem this month.... we had fun turning it into a take home
book.
First we painted a big sheet of paper with sponges
to make the background for our book...
Then we colored the pictures we were going to use
to illustrate the book...
Next week we will assemble the words and text to create
the book!!
We talked about whales....
and we talked about how they stay warm in the cold waters in
which they live.
We demonstrated this by having
the kids put one hand in ice water, and the other hand in "blubber"....
we really felt how warm our blubber covered hand stayed even
in the icy water.
We celebrated Cinco de Mayo by making moraccas, playing
Spanish Musical Chairs, and breaking a pinata
